The goal of this article is to demonstrate that science supports the existence of a highly intelligent creator. The evidence shared points to a complexity that cannot within reasonable probability be by coincidence. Chaos cannot randomly produce highly sophisticated and intellectual order. This article is unique in that it brings science and faith together beautifully. See for yourself and decide.
Let's begin this science topic with a fascinating Bible verse reflecting on the topic of creation and how all things were created by God. Colossians 1:16 says:
For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.
This is a good place to begin our conversation about irreducible complexity. This verse is an account of creation, as opposed to evolution, which claims that nothing was created by a living God but instead naturally evolved after a big spontaneous bang. The goal here is to demonstrate the simplest logic that supports creationism in order to facilitate the quickest and easiest understanding. Hopefully we'll accomplish that here.
Imagine a 5 year old child riding her tricycle to the park on a summer day. Suddenly the front wheel falls off. Do you need to explain to the child the physics behind why the tricycle won't work as the broken wheel bounces off the wall? Or does the child quickly acknowledge what's happening and reacts to the reality unfolding in front of her? In other words, (emphasis added) does the child get upset because the tricycle won't work without the wheel? Or simply because the wheel fell off?
In case there's any confusion – the child is upset simply because the wheel fell off. The child is not analyzing the situation as a engineer trying to figure out why the tricycle won't defy physics. But, here's the thing, in the evolutionary theory reasoning, the child is still within reason to expect that maybe the tricycle WILL still work without the wheel or by randomly coming back together and fixing itself!
Here's another example - Imagine that someone opens up your computer and steal one of the cables that connects the hard drive to the motherboard. Someone tells you about the theft and you try to run your computer and realize it won't run. Do you get angry that the computer won't run without all the right parts? Or about the theft of the part? Again, think about this.
Now let's turn to the classic example used to illustrate the argument of Irreducible Complexities. That is, the example of the simple mouse trap. In retrospect, my examples of the computer and the tricycle are complex compared to the classic mouse trap example.

You probably know the simple so-called 5-part mousetrap example. Every single part of the mousetrap needs to work for it to work and it's an all-or-nothing situation. Michael Behe, biochemical researcher and professor at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania summarizes the 5-part mousetrap simplicity this way:
"If any one of the components of the mousetrap (the base, hammer, spring, catch, or holding bar) is removed, then the trap does not function. In other words, the simple little mousetrap has no ability to trap a mouse until several separate parts are all assembled.
Because the mousetrap is necessarily composed of several parts, it is irreducibly complex. Thus, irreducibly complex systems exist."
To demonstrate the war on God's simple science it shouldn't surprise you to see the adjectives used by Wikipedia to describe Behe. Emphasis added:
Michael Joseph Behe is an American biochemist and an advocate of the PSEUDOSCIENTIFIC principle of intelligent design
So, apparently simplicity is “pseudoscience” and pseudoscience illogical complexities is the new “simple” (sarc). The question we should be asking is why? Why is something so simple made out to be so complex? And the answer, in my humble opinion, is because we're in a fallen world and principalities of darkness rule this world; principalities that are against God and want to keep people in ignorance and thus hopelessness.
The Bible says that mankind without God is blinded and his/her worldly wisdom is mocked by God. This may sound harsh but read it for yourself. 1 Corinthians 3:18-20 states:
Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”; and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.”

This all may sound wild or unbelievable to some, but the scriptures also tell us God has blinded the minds of unbelievers and they are literally caught up in a fictional reality that leads to death. Romans 1:20-21 tells us:
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened
God, in His Word here reminds us that His creation is easy to recognize and those who choose not to see it are the ones whose understanding is darkened. This is the degree of blindness required to not see that if a simple mousetrap needs every single part to work, how much more a coffeemaker, or a dishwasher or a television, or a vehicle? How about, not just a human body part, but the entire human magnificent and complex body?
The complexities of the human body can be appreciated by anyone who does the research. The intellectual precision and accuracy involved in the design, is beyond what anyone can truly imagine including the most skilled medical professionals. This drives a wrench into the idea that the perfect biological orchestra or the intricate intellectual complexities that create life in the human body (not to mention the rest of the world) could happen by chance or as a result of random chaos.
Furthermore, the idea that this mathematically impossible and chaotic miracle of the human body would itself simultaneously evolve over many years, doubling down on its own improbable chaos without ONE tiny section of this masterpiece biological orchestra failing; which, as with the mousetrap, would by default cause failure of the rest of the system, is child-level fiction and entirely unscientific!
The fact is, all intellectual moving parts would have to always be working and in perfect intellectual harmony.
The argument of irreducible complexity destroys evolution and even Charles Darwin in his 'Origin of Species' book famously said:
“If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ existed which could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive, slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down.”
Here we have Darwin himself predicting the demise of his own illogical theories and in so doing God's simple truth prevails again!
The truth of the matter is that complex intelligent design is all around us, from outer space to the wonders of this planet, to the details of the human body, all the way down to the complexities of every cell in our bodies. Every proton, neutron and electron serves a purpose. From the simple cell parts like the cell wall, to the more complex mitochondria, nucleus or endoplasmic reticulum, to the even more complex systems, like our immune, cardiovascular, endocrine, muscle and connective tissue systems.
Intellectual designs require intellectual designers, they don't design themselves any more than the child (in our opening example) would not expect the tricycle to fix itself; and the kid is right, it wouldn't!
Ultimately, God's wonderful intellectual and miraculous hand is everywhere and that's a reason to celebrate. His humor in using simplicity to outsmart the wisdom of this world is something to behold as well, as is His simultaneous patience and love for us, not willing that any of us perish. As mentioned in the scripture at the very start, "For in him all things were created" and in this we can count on!
